nº 144 Kim Weston Any Girl In Love Este tema es más conocido por su estribillo "WhatI'mGoingThrough". Kim Weston comenzó a cantar en Detroit en el coro gospel de la iglesia, con tan solo tres años, y más tarde, en su juventud, formó parte de la gira del grupo de gospel The Wright Specials. Al poco tiempo de crearse Motown entró en la compañía, consiguiendo su primer éxito en 1963, "Love Me All the Way". En 1964 grabó su primer dúo con Marvin Gaye "What Good Am I Without You". Ese mismo año le ofrecieron grabar "Dancing in the Street", que finalmente grabarían Martha & The Vandellas, siendo un gran hit. En 1965 llegó su single más aclamado "Take Me in Your Arms (Rock Me a Little While)", al que seguiría un año después "Helpless". En 1966 grabó "Take Two", un álbum completo de dúos con Marvin Gaye, del que se extrajo como single el clásico "It Takes Two". En 1977 abandonaba Motown junto a su marido, el productor William "Mickey" Stevenson, para irse a MGM. En esta nueva compañía lanzó dos álbumes que fueron un fracaso; "For the First Time" y "This Is America". Tras el escaso éxito firmó por Volt Records, donde grabó "Kim Kim Kim", que al igual que los dos anteriores no tuvo éxito. Finalmente fue a People, donde grabó "Big Brass Four Poster" y un álbum de standars de jazz junto a The Hastings Street Jazz Experience. Poco tiempo desùés grabó también para la discográfica de Johnny Nash. En 1970 hizo una versión con cierto éxito del tema "Lift Ev'ry Voice and Sing". Durante los setenta se mantuvo alejada de la música, hasta que en 1987 reapareció junto al productor británico Ian Levine. A partir de esta etaap grabó de nuevo sus temas antiguos e incluyó nuevo material en álbumes como "Investigate" (1990) y "Talking loud" (1992). nº 145 Barbara Randolph 1969 - "When It Rains It Pours" nº 146 Four Tops "Something About You " Grupo fundado cuatro compañeros de la escuela secundaria en Detroit, Michigan, originalmente llevó el nombre de The Four Aims, pero en 1956 cambiaron su nombre a Four Tops para evitar ser confundidos con los Ames Brothers. Ese mismo año grabaron su primer sencillo "Kiss Me Baby", con la disquera Chess Records. Además, en sus primeros años contaron con el apoyo de Billy Eckstine, quien ejerció como su mentor. Posteriormente grabaron sencillos para las casas discográficas Red Top, Columbia Records y Riverside Records. Finalmente, en 1964 firmaron con la casa Motown, en la división de jazz, pero poco después empezaron a trabajar con el legendario trío compositor Holland-Dozier-Holland, y durante este período en Motown, el cuarteto produjo sus sencillos más exitosos. Sin embargo, en 1972, cuando el sello discográfico se mudó a Los Ángeles, Four Tops firmó con ABC/Dunhill Records. En 1990 entraron al Salón de la Fama del Rock

La Motown no sería el sello mítico sin aquellos fabulosos grupos femeninos que formaron parte del ADN de la discográfica desde sus orígenes.  Entre ellos estaban,  las espléndidas Marvelletes.

Unos de los más grandes dentro de la Motown fueron los Temptations, por los que debo confesar que siento cierta debilidad, y aunque ya tienen en la lista varios de sus temas más emblemáticos, esta selección no se puede cerrar sin incluir algunos menos conocidos pero no por eso menos brillantes.

Pasado el Ecuador, voy a dedicar esta entrada a los temas de los Four Tops que deben acompañar a su "Reach Out".
Para empezar su tema “Walk Away Renee” que las nuevas generaciones conocen, por la versión de Vonda Separd en la serie Alie McBeal.
Los Four Tops es quizá uno de los cuartetos más famosos de la Motown que poseían un variado repertorio que incluía doo-wop, jazz, soul, R & B, música disco, rock duro, y Showtunes. La banda nación en Detroit, Michigan, con el nombre de Four Aims, el vocalista Levi Stubbs (primo de Jackie Wilson y hermano de Los de Joe Stubbs), y Abdul "Duke" Fakir, Renaldo "Obie" Benson y Lawrence Payton permanecieron juntos durante más de cuatro décadas, habiendo pasado desde 1953 hasta 1997 sin un solo cambio en la formación.
